Virgin Atlantic to introduce London-Tampa route

Virgin Atlantic is adding to the U.S. schedule with a new route from London Heathrow to Tampa, Florida.

The new year-long service will begin on November 3, with four weekly flights before departure every day from November 28.

Tampa will be Virgin’s third destination in Florida whose airline is already flying from London to both Orlando and Miami. It will be the first non-stop service between Heathrow and Tampa International Airports, although British Airways is already flying between Gatwick and Tampa.

Virgin’s latest U.S. destination comes after the UK carrier launched direct flights between London and Austin in Texas in May.

Tamper’s core industries include financial services, healthcare and a growing technology sector. The city was also the third fastest growing U.S. metro area for entrepreneurs in 2021.

Juha Jarvinen, Chief Commercial Officer at Virgin Atlantic, said: “The region has a growing economy, with high-profile businesses in the region and many emerging entrepreneurs registering start-ups in the city. We look forward to building new relationships with the Tampa Bay community. “
