UK-leading tech consultancy opens Edinburgh office

OPENCAST, one of the UK’s fastest growing technology consultants, has officially launched a new City Hub in Edinburgh in response to the growing number of its people working around the city and the new client opportunities it offers in the Scottish capital.

Edinburgh attracts some of Scotland’s best technology talent – and is a UK-leading hub for sectors including fintech and B2B-centric startups. The city is home to more than 3,000 UK civil servants covering 11 government departments, as well as the Scottish Government.

One in 14 of the Opencast team now works in or near the city, and the company estimates that 40 of its teams will be there in the next 12 months.

The Edinburgh Hub launch follows the opening of a new office headquarters in Newcastle upon Tyne by Opencast earlier this year, as well as two more city centers in London and Leeds.

Since its inception in 2012, the fast-growing technology business has grown its team to over 300 people, behind winning major new client deals across the UK – see full list of clients below.

To mark the opening of its Edinburgh hub, OpenCast hosted an ‘open house’ networking evening reception on July 6 at its new office in Lochrin Square, bringing together people from the Edinburgh technology community with the OpenCast team.

Welcoming the Edinburgh launch, OpenCast CEO Tom Lawson said: “We are excited to launch our latest City Hub in Edinburgh, for our people there and for the new business opportunities the city offers.

“A new recruitment drive in Scotland will increase the number of people we need to enter the new Edinburgh Hub in the next 12 months to almost 40. We want to recruit the best from Scotland’s rich digital talent pool, adding to our growing UK presence.”

Tom added: “We have chosen locations for our city centers because they allow our people to provide county facilities and give them the same experience as our Newcastle headquarters regardless of their location.”

OpenCast, which was founded in 2012, provides digital consulting and services for clients at the heart of Government, Global Finance and Growth Enterprise. It provides a variety of services across software, digital and technological delivery, user-centric design and platform engineering. Its people work from afar and across four locations in Newcastle, Leeds, London and now Edinburgh.

OpenCast’s flexible work ethic does not impose the need to be in office at all times – rather, it is guided by trust and the principle of working in the right place at the right time to make the most impact for clients.
