Skyfox over Georgia Guidestone after the alleged explosion

Mysterious Georgia Guidestones caused significant damage when residents heard a thunderstorm explode near their location.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigations told reporters that preliminary information indicated that someone had used an explosive device to damage the pillars.

The Albert County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation to investigate the attack on the structure.

Investigators said an unidentified person detonated an explosive device around 4am. A large part of the structure is damaged and a part is completely destroyed.

CCTV footage released by authorities showed a car near the monument shortly after the blast.

Although built in 1980, the Guidestones – sometimes known as the Stonehenge of America – consist of six granite slabs, an inscription engraved across the slab in eight different languages. The inscription contains guidelines – hence the guidestone – for following human progress.
