Export success for made-in-Wales golf accessories brand

A Caerphilly-based golf accessory brand has gained more than ,000 500,000 in new export orders after receiving support from the Welsh government.

Asbri sells Bespoke products, including golf balls, pitch mark repairers, tees and headwear, all of which can be customized with any golf club, society or corporate logo.

Exports have played a major role in the company’s growth as golf is very seasonal in the UK due to its climate.

The UK’s exit from the European Union and the Covid epidemic have created challenges for the business, it now exports to 35 countries worldwide and has substantial distribution in markets such as Canada, France, Germany and Spain.

It is a partner of PGA (Professional Golfers Association), the official provider of The European Legends Tour and works with more than 5,000 golf clubs and resorts worldwide.

Managing Director Ariel Williams said: “The epidemic has presented many challenges to our business like many others, but we are fortunate that the golf industry was one of the first sports to reopen after the lockdown in many countries.

“The support of the Welsh Government is crucial and has enabled our business to reconnect with old and new distributor partners, increasing our exports and distribution worldwide.”

Asbri has benefited from the support of the Welsh government to perform at the US PGA Merchandise Golf Show in Florida which has enabled them to showcase themselves and win new business from a variety of markets.

Economy Minister von Gathing said: “The Welsh government is fully committed to helping Welsh grow its business, create new jobs and revitalize the Welsh economy.

“I’m glad to see that Asbury is getting stronger and I wish them every success in the future.”
