Eichelkraut Named Interim Women’s Soccer Head Coach at Oregon Tech

Clemth Falls, oh. – Oregon Tech Athletic Director John Van Dyke Gave the name Tom Acorn Weed Interim head coach of the women’s football program.

He replaces Lady Owls longtime assistant Casey Tate, who resigned last month to take the NCAA Division I coaching opportunity. Tate Tech posted a 32-4-2 record in its two seasons, advancing to the national semifinals in 2021 and leading the squad to participate in the back-to-back NAIA tournament.

Eichelkraut has worked as an assistant for the past nine seasons, being promoted to associate head coach in 2018. He has worked under three coaches at Tech – Mike Headland (2013-14), Brandon Porter (2015-19) and Tate (2020-21) – with the squad for five consecutive season appearances and three-CCC regular-season titles. .

Basin, a 25-year coaching veteran, has worked locally as one of the coaching directors at United Soccer Club. He has earned his United States Soccer Federation National Youth Coaching License, his USSF Coaching License and his National Soccer Coaches Association of America National Diploma.

Aichelcrout, a resident of Klamath Falls, played one season at Humboldt State College before joining the U.S. Air Force – where he played for the Air Force Kirtland Flyers. Bachelor of Workforce Education and Development from South Illinois and a postgraduate degree in Management from the University of Phoenix. He continues his education in leadership and management as an officer in the Oregon Air National Guard at Kingsley Field.

“We are grateful for that Tom Acorn Weed And she has experience with our women’s football program and knows she will do a great job this season to continue that tradition,” Says Van Dyke. “Casey has done a great job with our women’s program and left a roadmap for Tom to follow this season and make the team a success. After the 2022 season, we plan to open a major coaching position for a national search.”
