Post Office Travel Money’s Nick Bowden urges holidaymakers to ”do their homework and budget carefully to cover the costs of the holiday resorts they are visiting”.

TUI’s Richard Soffer added: “We are seeing strong demand, particularly for holidays to these more affordable destinations, with bookings to Turkey up 60% compared to 2019. The Algarve remains a strong family choice, with bookings up a third in 2019 , which suggests budget-conscious Brits still want to enjoy traveling abroad.”

The report also found that three in five (59%) families are planning to travel abroad this year but three-quarters (76%) increased their budget by more than a third (38%) on their last holiday.
